SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Yahoo Inc. saw its shares jump more than 5% early
Tuesday afternoon amid media reports that the company has renewed talks with
Microsoft Corp. over a potential deal, possibly a buyout. A report on CNet’s Web
site, citing “one major investor,” said the two companies were in talks for a
partial buyout of Yahoo’s search business. Another report on the popular
TechCrunch blog cited “multiple sources” as saying that the companies were back
to discussing a full buyout deal. Microsoft pulled its original offer in early
May after failing to agree with Yahoo on the price. Microsoft shares were down 12
cents by early afternoon.
