Too many retailers and too many outlets — some will succeed, some will fail.

I lived in the mid-atlantic. You know it snows every year, so if you are smart you put you snow tires on in October, not after the first snow fall. Retailers know that if there is a blizzard on Christmas Eve sales will be off.
But while there may be a blizzard in Boston or Minneapolis, there won’t be a blizzard in Los Angeles or Phoenix, so for the retailers the sales should smooth out when the national sales total is calculated.
retailers need to stop blaming the weather and acknowledge:
1. They have products customers do not want to buy.
2. Prices are too high.
3. The worst economic meltdown in 70 years means that people have a huge disincentive to shop and buy anything.
4. Also, the abandoning of customer service (documented in articles about 10 years ago) is coming back to haunt retailers.
Tips: If you’re smart you buy winter gear in March, summer gear in August or September. A friend of mine would buy Xmas decorations in Jan. and box it up for next year.
