Russian Said to Be Ex-Goldman Worker Charged in Theft (Update1)
By David Glovin
July 6 (Bloomberg) — A Russian immigrant said to be an ex- Goldman Sachs Group Inc. employee was arrested in a trade- secrets theft case, and authorities said he later admitted copying and encrypting computer files from his former firm.
Sergey Aleynikov, a computer programmer, was arrested July 3 on arriving at the Newark, New Jersey, airport and charged with theft of trade secrets, prosecutors said. He worked in the New York offices of Goldman, according to a person familiar with the case.
Aleynikov told U.S. agents he took the files for secret computer trading codes, authorities said. He also claimed that he intended to collect only “open source” files on which he worked, they said.
“Aleynikov downloaded the files from the Web site to his home computer, his laptop computer and a portable memory devise,” Michael McSwain, Federal Bureau of Investigation agent, said July 4 in a criminal complaint.

The fella is just doing what he saw his bosses do:
Except they downloaded money from the US Taxpayer via the Treasury and the Federal Reserve System.
What’s the big deal?
