Stocks in focus for Thursday

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Among the companies whose shares are expected to
see active trade in Thursday’s session are Dell Inc., American International
Group Inc., and Sprint Nextel Corp.

Dell (DELL) is expected to report fourth-quarter earnings of 36 cents a share,
according to analysts surveyed by FactSet Research.

American International Group (AIG) is forecast to post earnings of 69 cents a
share in the fourth-quarter.

Sprint Nextel (S) is estimated to report a profit of 18 cents a share in the
fourth quarter.

Fluor Corp. (FLR) is expected to report earnings of $1.14 a share in the fourth
quarter.

Freddie Mac (FRE) is projected to post a fourth-quarter loss of $3.07 a share.

Sears Holdings Corp. (SHLD) is likely to report a fourth-quarter profit of $3.05
a share according to analyst estimates.

Gap Inc. (GPS) is expected to report earnings of 33 cents a share in the fourth
quarter.

Kohl’s Corp. (KSS) is expected to report fourth-quarter earnings of $1.34

Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc. (BRL) is projected to post a fourth-quarter profit of
70 cents a share.

King Pharmaceuticals Inc. (KG) is forecast to post earnings of 48 cents a share
in the fourth-quarter.

Cablevision Systems Corp. (CVC) is expected to report earnings of 11 cents a
share in the fourth quarter.

XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. (XMSR) is forecast to post a loss of 65 cents a
share in the fourth-quarter.

Liberty Media Holding Corp. (LINTA) is projected to post a fourth-quarter profit
of 28 cents a share.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. (CTB) is estimated to report a profit of 38 cents a
share in the fourth quarter.

Hansen Natural Corp. (HANS) is likely to report a fourth-quarter profit of 39
cents a share according to analyst estimates.

Leap Wireless International Inc. (LEAP) is forecast to post a loss of 14 cents a
share in the fourth-quarter.

Rowan Cos. (RDC) is estimated to report a profit of $1.18 a share in the fourth
quarter.

Smithfield Foods Inc. (SFD) is expected to report third-quarter earnings of 23
cents a share.

Universal Health Services Inc. (UHS) is projected to post a fourth-quarter profit
of 70 cents a share.

United Rentals Inc. (URI) is likely to report a fourth-quarter profit of 73 cents
a share

Viacom Inc. (VIA) is forecast to post earnings of 83 cents a share in the
fourth-quarter.

W&T Offshore Inc. (WTI) is estimated to report a profit of 65 cents a share in
the fourth quarter.

R.H. Donnelley Corp. (RHD) is expected to report earnings of 16 cents a share in
the fourth quarter.

After Wednesday’s closing bell, Salesforce.com Inc. said (CRM) it swung to a
profit in its fiscal fourth quarter, as revenue jumped 50% compared to the same
period a year earlier. Net income for the period ended in January rose to $7.38
million, or 6 cents a share, compared to $516,000, or break-even in the period a
year earlier. Revenue rose 50% to $216.9 million. Analysts estimated earnings of
4 cents a share for the quarter, on $208.9 million in revenue.

Watch list

Ambac Inc. may be getting recapitalization help from Cerberus Capital Management,
CNBC reported late Wednesday. A group of eight banks are also agreeing on a plan
that would inject new capital into the bond insurer.
