Pantry Inc. (PTRY) expects to report a loss of 24 cents to 30 cents a share for
the second fiscal quarter ended March 27, 2008.
The Sanford, N.C.-based operator of convenience stores in the southeastern U.S.
said comparable-store merchandise sales and retail gasoline gallons sold fell
3.4% from the year-ago quarter.
Pantry said sales were effected by high gasoline prices and “softer” consumer
spending.
Additionally, the company lowered its retail gasoline margin forecast for the
first half of the fiscal year to 10 cents to 12 cents a gallon from 11 cents to
13 cents a gallon.
