A note about temporary work. I was one of those back in the 70s and 80s that was employed as a temporary employee. The thing is I had job skills. So I was kept busy for many years making more than being employed full-time. I grew to know many in the temporary market because I relocated several times due to job changes. IT IS ABOUT HAVING SKILLS. I ended up having a thick resume because I never turned anything down and wanted to learn. TEACH ME was my motto. I learned a lot having worked in almost every industry at some point in my life.
Today many employers use temporary services to screen potential employees and to fill in when needed. Many eventually hire through temporary agencies. I would bet those 34,000 jobs filled were by those with SKILLS.
Somebody posted on here yesterday that his recession is about unskilled labor. I think that is very true but unfortunately it is also spilling over to professionals as well. If a market was crowed it is becoming increasingly obvious that maybe some of those people need to widen their SKILLS.
In order to just get back to unemployment around 5 percent which many consider full employment, we would need to see 10 million jobs created. This would allow graduates to enter the workplace as well. This is why I have said for months now that this administration does not understand job creation. Look at the manufacturing job losses over the past 20 years. Staggering. It just doesn’t take a genius to figure out that we MUST reverse those stats. So instead of attacking health care and energy by expanding government and expanding our deficit and frankly lowering the standard of living for many, the focus should have been on JOBS. JOBS. Washington do you hear me????????????? We have the room to grow manufacturing. So instead of buying solar panel from China, and buying steel from China, how about we use those empty 80,000 plus buildings in MI?
Washington is reactionary not having any vision that is practical.
