Government conspiratory theory

Mine are the views of an outsider looking in.

I believe that yours is the only Government that is actively setting about protecting its citizens from the impending oil crisis.

What I see is subtle action by your government to once more create a ‘Fortress America’, a return to isolationism, and at the same time weaning of its people from cheap oil. In order to do this, a lot of bad tasting medicine must be doled out. It is better to have the bad tasting medicine in smaller doses now and even be flogged over the back a few times than to be run through with a sword when Peak Oil does hit.

An isolated and secure USA will survive the crunch provided its people are prepared and have switched to replacements for oil. In Canada and the US there is a substantial amount of oil but it is difficult and slow to extract. Necessity will then be the Mother of invention.

I believe that the financial manipulations are part of an overall strategy to ultimately wean the American people off oil by making the US Dollar cheap - much cheaper than today even and consequently making oil and oil based products very expensive to import. This will force the ingenuity of the American people to find alternates. There will be hiccups and deviations along the way but in the end oil dependancy will be reduced.

US oil production peaked in the 70s and not coincidently your Government started the Strategic Oil Reserves. (China has now started a similar reserve).

The US attacked Iraq to take the oil reserves (one third of the world’s proven reserves) and then gave control over that oil to big American oil to keep it for American use. No matter what the presidential candidates may say now about taking the troops out of Iraq, whoever is President will become enlightened very quickly and will keep the troops there to secure the oil for the USA.

I am sure that there is a well worked out plan of action which will unfold as time progresses and that this plan will continue with whatever President or Party is in power.

I don’t see action by any other Government to protect its citizens in this regard and envy you your proactive incisive Government.
