Countrywide reports $422 mln quarterly loss. Countrywide To Pay 15c/Share Dividend On Common Stock

BOSTON (MarketWatch) — Troubled mortgage lender Countrywide Financial Corp. ,
which is in a deal to be acquired by Bank of America Corp. , Tuesday said it
swung to a fourth-quarter loss of $422 million, or 79 cents a share. Provision
for credit losses totaled $924 million, down from $937 million in the third
quarter.
Countrywide has reduced its headcount by about 11,000 since July 2007.
The company declared a 15-cent dividend on its common shares.
