HONG KONG (MarketWatch) — China’s tax revenues in the first half of 2008 surged to 3.26 trillion yuan ($477 billion), 30.5% higher than in the same period a year earlier, the South China Morning Post reported Wednesday, citing State Administration of Taxation figures. The surge was helped by strong industrial production and investment. The growth, however, was slower than the 33.8% increase seen in the first quarter’s tax revenue, the report added.
