AIG HK Unit: Letter About Asset Sale Is False, Fraudulent

HONG KONG (Dow Jones)–American International Group Inc.’s (AIG) Hong Kong unit
said Thursday a letter, purportedly from its customer services department, saying
AIG is selling its Asian businesses was “false and fraudulent.”
AIG’s Hong Kong unit, American International Assurance Company Ltd., said in a
one-page advertisement on local newspapers that the letter was “made up.”
AIA said its operations are normal and it has reported the case to authorities.
